Waste landfills and tailings dams
Every year, tremendous amounts of waste coming from different sources such as households, commercial or industrial processes are produced. Municipalities and industrial sites are subjected to many regulations with regards to waste treatment, and planning accordingly for the construction of solid waste landfills, earth-fill embankments and tailings dams is key.
For many years, Terre Armée has been involved in the construction of tailored solutions for the treatment of hazardous and non-hazardous materials, offering cost efficient and durable infrastructure.
The original Reinforced Earth® solution is widely used for the construction of permanent and temporary vertical mechanically stabilized earth walls. The design can be adapted to include galvanized steel or geosynthetic reinforcements connected to concrete facing panels. We also offer metallic facing retaining walls such as Terratrel®, Geotrel® and TerraMet®.
Waste containment and dewatering
Terre Armée offers solutions for the containment of industrial waste such as fly ash or residual muds. Our TerraDyke™ geotextile tubes, woven geotextile containers are widely used as part of the industrial waste treatment and containment waste.
TerraDyke™ can be used to dewater residual muds, sludge and dredged materials. The geotextile tube contains and squeezes the materials under the effect of gravity allowing water to exit through the geotextile’s stitches, leaving the waste contained and ready to be disposed.
Ponds and wastewater sludge lagoons
Terre Armée’s geosynthetic clay liners and non-woven geotextiles are widely used for the construction of waterproof ponds, storage basins, and wastewater sludge lagoons. Our engineered lining solutions have proven to be safe and durable, securing ponds from any rupture and protecting the underlying soils and underground waters from contamination.
Our flagship technique, Reinforced Earth®, is based on the principle of the friction between soil and reinforcements creating a permanent and predictable bond. At the origin of all mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls on the market today, we are continuously perfecting this ingenious technique.
Under the umbrella of TerraTextile™, our woven geotextile solutions address construction challenges associated with soft and poorly draining soils. The solution provides long term separation, filtration and hydrostatic pressure control that in turn constricts potential surface and subgrade deformations.
